Ming Lin, MS, MD 2024 at the Medical College of Wisconsin

Ming was born in China and spent most of his life in Boston, MA, and Chanhassen, MN. He graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology from Tufts University in 2014 and a M.S. in Medical Science from Boston University School of Medicine in 2019. He has over 5 years of experience as a trilingual patient navigator at Tufts Medical Center Cancer Center for cancer patients from underserved Boston communities, and as an adult ESL teacher for immigrants in Boston Chinatown. He additionally served as a member of the Commission on Cancer at Tufts Medical Center Cancer Center. He served as the Health Affairs Vice President in 2023 and a Regional Director of the National Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association in 2022. He was selected as one of 30 medical students and residents across North America to receive the 2022-2023 HONORS Award from the American Society of Hematology. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on cancer disparities, Asian health, and healthcare delivery. He aims to go into Hematology/Oncology, with a clinical and research focus on cancer disparities, quality of care, and health-related quality of life, particularly serving immigrant, AANHPI, and LGBTQIA+ communities.

Joyce Lee, MS, MD 2024 at the Medical College of Wisconsin

Joyce was born in Tainan, Taiwan and immigrated to East Los Angeles when she was 8 years old. Since then, she has completed her B.S. in Physiology and Neuroscience at UC San Diego, worked at Janssen Pharmaceuticals (Johnson & Johnson) as a Neuroscience Intern, completed her M.S. in Bioethics at Columbia University, worked at NYU School of Medicine as a Research Data Associate researching Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), and conducted independent research. Additionally, she has spent nearly 10 years with the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) as a local chapter Co-President, Regional Director, and now one of the Membership Vice Presidents on the National Executive Board. She enjoys the neurosciences, research, bioethics, medical humanities, and improving the lives of minority populations, especially the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander populations. Eventually, she hopes to integrate all of these interests into her medical practice in the future. After medical school, she aims to to be a neurologist with an eventual goal to specialize in vascular neurology or neurocritical care, though she is open to many subspecialties in neurology.

Iaong Vang, MD 2024 at the Medical College of Wisconsin

Iaong Vang is a daughter of Hmong refugees from Laos and was born and raised in Missoula, Montana. She graduated from the University of Montana with her B.S. in Biology in 2018. She worked as a medical scribe in Portland, Oregon for two years before medical school. She is currently interested in ophthalmology and could potentially be the first Hmong ophthalmologist. No matter what specialty she decides to pursue, she hopes to serve those from underserved communities, like her Hmong and fellow refugee communities.

Kajua Lor, PharmD, BCACP

Dr. Lor earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2013, after which she completed an ambulatory care residency at the University of Minnesota. She is a board certified ambulatory care pharmacist. Dr. Lor was the first Hmong pharmacist to obtain a pharmacy academia position in the nation. She practices as a clinical pharmacist 1 day per week at Sixteenth Street Clinic, a federally qualified health care center in Milwaukee, WI. She is a native Hmong speaker with proficiency in Spanish. She has several peer-reviewed publications and is co-author of ‘Getting in: a practical guide to pharmacy admission’. Dr. Lor’s research interests involve the intersections of social determinants of health with chronic care management & herbal medicine use. She is a community engaged health disparities researcher. Dr. Lor was selected and graduated as a fellow of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program and is collaborating with leaders across various sectors, disciplines, and lived experiences to create healthier, more equitable communities. Lana Minshew, PhD

Dr. Minshew is a learning scientist and educational researcher whose work explores the relationships between educational theory, teaching practices, and learning and cognition in health professions education. In addition, she also conducts scholarly work in support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in health professions learning environments. Dr. Minshew began her career as a K-12 science educator in Houston, Texas. She completed her Master’s in Educational Psychology in 2012 from the University of Houston, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Learning Sciences and Psychological Studies) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2018. Prior to joining MCW, Dr. Minshew completed a 3-year postdoctoral research fellowship with the Center for Innovative Pharmacy Education and Research (CIPhER) at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
